Kathmandu is the city of temples and one of the oldest cities in the world. It has more than five world’s heritage sites as listed by UNESCO. This itinerary is designed to give varied landscapes and the fine art of architecture in three cities of Bhaktapur, Patan, and Kathmandu. You will find the beautiful temples, streets, architecture and elegant palaces in these ancient cities.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

Meal: Breakfast

After reaching Tribhuvan International Airport, our driver will pick you up. Then you will be checking into one of the hotels located in the center of the city. You will be warmly welcomed from our end at the hotel. With a short introduction with each other, our representative will give a detailed briefing of the tour itinerary. In the evening you can go to the Pashupatinath darshan and aarti. At night you will taste the Nepalese delicacies in the hotel. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing

After taking breakfast, you will be going for the guided tour of the capital city. The travelers who love to study historical facts will definitely enjoy the city of Kathmandu due to its highest number of world heritage sites.

Kathmandu is well known among the tourists for its historical relics. If you spend a few hours a day, then you will explore a few sites dated back from primitive times. It has a total of seven world’s heritage sites as listed by UNESCO. It is a city where you will find pilgrimage sites of different religious values as well.

You will be going for the darshan of Pashupatinath. This place holds a view of religious and spiritual values. You will encounter different hermits practicing penance in the holy shrine. The cremations are also carried out in the holy river of Bagmati. Unless the Hindus, no one is allowed to visit the temple premise. Pashupatinath is the national deity of the country and it comes under the list of UNESCO’s world heritage sites list. On Maha Shivaratri, more than 1 million devotees visit the sacred temple of Pashupatinath. Prachanda Dev from Lichchavi dynasty built this temple in the 5th century. In the temple complex, you will find other temples, ashrams, and monuments as well. You will stay overnight at the hotel.

After this, you will be visiting Patan. You will be followed the visit with Lalitpur, the second largest town located in the valley on the shore of the River Bagmati. You will encounter beautiful ancient architectural masterpieces in the city. Next, you will be visiting the Durbar square. It is mostly the square of temple squad located in the central part of the capital city. In the city, you will find the refugee center of Tibetan community. Here, you will find out the cultural practice of the Tibetan people as well. You will find the carpet industry is the main resources of income for these Tibetan communities. You can also buy beautiful carpets from these local shops. Next, you will be visiting Swayambhunath stupa which is ornamented with beautiful prayer flags. You will see a beautiful overview of the capital city from the top of the stupa. This place is equally visited by both the Hindus and the Buddhists.

Stay overnight at Kathmandu

Day 3: Kathmandu to Nagarkot

Meal: Breakfast

Altitude: Nagarkot: 2175m

Distance: Kathmandu to Nagarkot: 28km (1.5hours)

After taking breakfast you will be traveling to visit “the city of Fine arts”, Nagarkot. This city is famous for its sunrise and sunset views. This small city is located around 32km east of Kathmandu. If you are a nature lover, then the beauty of snow Cladded Mountains will definitely allure you to this place. In ancient times, the monarchs use this city to look after the exterior attack on the country. After reaching there you can indulge in cultural trekking trail. Your trekking will start from Sundarijal and ends at Chisapani. On the trekking trail, you will be seeing beautiful mountains on your path along with the rhododendron forests. Stay overnight in Nagarkot.

Day 4: Nagarkot to Changu Narayan and then Kathmandu

Distance: Changu Narayan - 2195m (4hours trekking)

After breakfast, you will be going on a hiking trip. The hiking starts from the small village of Nagarkot. It is one of the most famous hiking routes located in Kathmandu valley. If you are a nature lover, then this hiking will get you a chance to enjoy the nature closely. It is quite famous among the tourists for its sunrise view. The hiking ends at Changu Narayan Temple. UNESCO listed this temple under the world’s heritage site. 

On the way, you will get the view of sunrise across the mountains. Till Bhaktapur, you will walk downhill. On the trail, you will find beautiful fields of mustard. You will also get to see step cultivation of wheat (based on which season you are traveling). You will continue hiking until the temple shrine. It will take around 3hours to reach the temple.

The pagoda style temple is quite fascinating to look at. You will find champak trees surrounding the temple complex. It is located in Bhaktapur district, 12km east of the capital city. The main idol in the temple is Lord Vishnu. The ancient historical scriptures said that the king from Kashmir married off his daughter with the king of Bhaktapur. The temple is named after her.

In terms of architecture, you will find the finest works embraced with rich jewels. This two storied temple stands on a single piece of stone. This temple followed the authentic Nepali style in architecture. There are four gateways to the temple which are guarded by animals like griffins, sarabhas, elephants, and lions. Dashavatar of Lord Vishnu was engraved on the walls of the temple with the carvings of Sheshnaga at the entrance of the sanctum. At the main entrance, you will also find the four iconic weapons of Lord Vishnu ieShankha, Chakra, Khadga and Kamal. It is known that King Manadeva from the Licchavi period built the inscription engraved in the temple. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 5: Departure
